Loosen up and embrace an expressive approach to mark making

.

About the course

Mark making is simply the act of leaving a visible trace on a surface. This course is all about play, discovery and exploring different ways of making expressive lines and marks.

You will create your own set of mark making tools and experience the pleasure of finding unique marks that range from bold and dramatic to quiet and soft. .

Taking inspiration from calligraphy, text and asemic writing, you will also explore how you can combine different materials and surfaces to create exciting mark making combinations on both a small and large scale. Through working with both wet and dry media you will start to understand the possibilities and limitations of your tools and the nature of the marks they create.

During the course we will bring all your experiments together into a handmade sketchbook.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of ability. Enthusiasm and willingness to experiment are the most important requirements.

Where will the workshop take place?

Eliza house is a beautiful period property on Wellington high street with a spacious and light first floor studio. It is easily accessible (although unfortunately no lift) and has public parking next door.

It’s 10 minutes from junction 26 of the M5 and 20 minutes from Taunton

I will send exact address and parking details once you have made a booking.

What do I need to bring?

Just an apron and your creative enthusiasm. I’ll provide all the materials and teas and coffees.

What if I need to cancel?

I understand that sometimes things happen that we can’t control. If you cancel more than 14 days before the event, you will receive a full refund.
