I am Clare Schmidt Norris, an artist and educator based in Devon, UK.

Depending on how you use my website, I may collect your:

information needed to manage a workshop or retreat booking

I only collect information that I need for the purposes described below.
How I use your information
I use your information to:
respond to enquiries and messages
manage workshop and retreat bookings
process payments and provide information relating to your booking
send booking confirmations and practical information
send my newsletter and occasional information about my artwork, exhibitions, workshops and retreats if you have chosen to receive it
understand how visitors use my website and improve it
keep appropriate business, financial and tax records.
The legal basis for using your information depends on the purpose. For example, I use your information because it is necessary to provide a service you have booked, to meet legal obligations, where you have given consent (such as subscribing to my newsletter), or where I have a legitimate interest in running and improving my website and business.
Newsletter
If you sign up to my newsletter, I will collect your name and email address so that I can send you my monthly newsletter and occasional information about my artwork, exhibitions, workshops, retreats and other creative activities.
My newsletter is managed and sent using Squarespace Email Campaigns. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter, or by contacting me at clare@clareschmidtnorris.com.
I will not add you to my mailing list simply because you have contacted me or booked a workshop. Newsletter marketing requires a separate choice to receive it.
Workshop and retreat bookings
When you book a workshop or retreat, I collect the information needed to manage your booking and provide the service.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your payment information is handled by Stripe and I do not receive or store your full card details on my website. Stripe may process information for payment processing, fraud prevention and legal and regulatory requirements. You can readStripe’s Privacy Policy.
I retain booking and payment records for as long as necessary to administer your booking and meet legal, accounting and tax requirements.
Website, Squarespace and cookies
My website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace collects certain technical information when you visit the website, including information such as your IP address, browser, device and pages visited. This is necessary to operate, maintain and secure the website.
I use Squarespace’s built-in analytics to understand how visitors use my website and improve its content.
My website uses cookies. Some are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. Non-essential analytics and performance cookies are restricted unless you give consent through the cookie banner.

My website displays content from my Instagram account. When you view or interact with Instagram content on my website, Meta (which operates Instagram) may collect information about your visit or interaction in accordance with its own privacy and cookie policies.

Who I share your information with
I do not sell or rent your personal information.
I may share information with service providers where necessary to operate my website and provide my services, including:
Squarespace – website hosting, forms, analytics and email marketing
Stripe – payment processing
Meta/Instagram – where you interact with Instagram content on my website
professional advisers, such as an accountant, where necessary
government authorities where I am legally required to do so.
These organisations may process your information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
How long I keep your information
Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, I remove you from my active mailing list, although I may retain a record of your request so that I do not contact you again.
Contact enquiries are normally kept only for as long as necessary to deal with your enquiry and any related follow-up. Booking and financial records are retained for as long as necessary to meet legal, accounting and tax requirements.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights over your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these include the right to:
ask what personal information I hold about you

ask me to correct inaccurate information
ask me to delete or restrict the use of your information
object to certain uses of your information
