When I travel, I collect: memories of colour, fragments of stone, discarded surfaces. Through marks, colours and textures, I make sense of my experience of place.
My Practice
Rather than capturing the places I visit in a literal way, my abstract work draws on memories and feelings, translating elements of my travels through colour, surface and material exploration. Working between painting, textiles and collage, I am interested in the physical process of making and the discoveries that emerge through experimentation and play.
Combining, layering and assembling are at the heart of my practice and enable unexpected combinations and tensions to develop. Surfaces are built up, cut apart and recombined, with each piece evolving slowly and intuitively.
The final work emerges from a balance of intention and discovery as materials and colours come together to create both quiet conversations and moments of contrast.
